Vaccination schedule for dogs start from age of 4 weeks (one month). Vaccination is also called immunisation as well, but it’s not same.
Vaccination is the act of giving a vaccine, while immunisation is the process of becoming immune against particular disease. Vaccination is a tool used to achieve immunisation in animals, which ultimately protects individuals from infectious diseases.
Core and Non-Core Vaccines
Core vaccines are essential for all dogs due to their severity and contagiousness, while non-core vaccines are given based on risk factors such as environment, lifestyle, and exposure potential.

Various Vaccines for Dogs
There are four vaccines (combined form) available across globe for dogs:
- Puppy DP
- DHPPi+L (DHPPiL or DHLPPi)
- Canine Corona (CC)
- Kennel Cough (KC)
Puppy DP Vaccine
At 30 days of age, puppies receive the Puppy DP vaccine, which give immunity against Canine Distemper (CD) and Canine Parvoviral Enteritis (CPVE).
DHPPi+L Vaccine
DHPPi+L Vaccine given at age of 45 days in dogs. Two booster vaccines are given after one month interval and then repeated annually for whole life.
DHPPi+L vaccine is a combination vaccine that protects against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Leptospirosis.
Canine Corona Vaccine (CC)
Canine Corona Vaccine given at age of two months (60 days) in dogs. One booster vaccine is given after one month interval and then repeated annually for whole life.
The Canine Coronavirus vaccine helps protect against Canine Coronavirus Disease, which primarily affects the gastrointestinal system, leading to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration.
Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV)
Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) given at age of three months in dogs. One booster vaccine is given after one month interval and then repeated annually for whole life.
Rabies is one of the most feared diseases, as it is fatal once symptoms appear. It is caused by the Rabies virus, which spreads through bites or scratches from infected animals.
Kennel Cough Vaccine (KC)
Kennel Cough Vaccine (KC) given at age of four months (120 days) in dogs and then repeated annually for whole life.
Kennel Cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica and Canine Parainfluenza Virus.
