Infertility in the Cows
Infertility in the cows denotes a degree of reduced fertility which results in failure to produce or delay in producing the annual live calf.
Sterility means an absolute inability to reproduce.
Fertility as applied to the cow denotes the desire and ability to mate, the capacity to conceive and to nourish the embryo and finally the power to expel a normal calf and fetal membranes. Healthy cattle give expression to normal fertility by producing one viable calf per year.
The widespread infertility problems existing in the cows and buffalo cows maintained under rural conditions are mainly due to the following factors.
