Coccidiosis in Pigs
Coccidiosis in Pigs is caused by Isospora suis and Eimeria debliecki. Young piglets at 2 weeks of age are highly affected.
Source of Infection
- Oocyst produced from periparturient sow.
Transmission
- Coprophagia
Clinical signs
- Severe enteritis, diarrhoea is biphasic due to reinvasion from tissue.
Treatment
- Amprolium in feed.
Prevention
- Administration of amprolium one week prior to farrowing to 3 weeks post farrowing.
